LA VERNE — A stingy Loyola defense was simply too strong for Bonita, shutting out the Bearcats in the second half to win 21-14 in the CIF-Southern Section Division 5 quarterfinals on Friday night.
Loyola (6-6) will now face Redondo Union next Friday in the semifinals. Redondo Union defeated St. Paul 14-13.
Bonita (7-5) ends its season advancing to the quarterfinals for the third straight season.
“They just battled,” said Bonita coach Bo Beatty about his team this season. “Look at how our season started. We had nine guys not play in weeks zero and one. We still found a way to get into a position like this and have a chance to win a quarterfinal game.”
