FRISCO--- In a rematch from 2024, the Newman Smith and Wakeland football programs met in the bi-district round to open the postseason. The Trojans had suffered some staggering losses to injury as the playoffs approached while Wakeland had just produced the best regular season in program history and had the rare Week 11 bye for an extra week of film and recovery.

The circumstances turned into reality as the Wolverines defense were in the Trojans’ backfield from the first snap, a tackle for loss from senior defensive lineman Austin Wilson.
