The Bury tram line is set to face disruption all weekend due to damage caused by Storm Claudia.

Heavy winds brought down a tree on the line between Bury and Whitefield Metrolink stops yesterday (Fri, November 14). In the process it damaged a piece of equipment that holds up overhead power lines.

Transport for Greater Manchester said repairs would take most of the weekend, and apologised for the inconvenience.

A bus replacement service will be in operation between Bury and Whitefield today, while tram tickets are also being accepted on bus routes.

Meanwhile there has also been disruption on the Rochdale tram line. On Friday there was no service between Westwood in Oldham and Newton Heath and Moston
