A late-night explosion tore through Nowgam Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, killing nine people and injuring more than 30 others, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in an official statement on Friday.

The blast occurred around 11:20 p.m. on November 14 while police personnel were handling a large cache of explosives and chemicals recovered earlier this week during the investigation of a terror module case.

The materials had been seized after Nowgam Police cracked a terror module based on leads obtained from a poster, officials said.
