Chaz Mostert has booked his ticket to the inaugural Supercars grand final after cruising to victory in the opening race of the Sandown 500.
The Walkinshaw Andretti United ace led for the majority of the race on Saturday, after getting the jump on polesitter Ryan Wood from the starting line.
Already out of the championship battle, Wood twice vacated the lead for his WAU teammate before holding off a late charge from reigning champion Will Brown.
Starting from 15th on the grid, Brown pulled off one of the drives of his career to salvage his finals hopes after another disastrous qualifying performance.
After surging through the field, the Triple Eight driver had only Wood to beat to get a shot at Mostert.
