AUGUSTA, Maine (WMTW) - The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) said Friday that it followed through on the directive from Gov. Janet Mills to issue November’s full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to eligible households throughout the week.
DHHS press secretary Lindsay Hammes told our media partners, WMTW, that the department delivered full November benefits to all eligible Maine SNAP recipients from Monday through Friday, which coincided with the state’s standard issuance schedule.
Hammes added that the SNAP benefits made available to Maine’s recipients were being utilized as early as Monday. SNAP applications, renewals and other updates continued to be accepted and processed by Maine DHHS during the federal government shutdown.
