The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has responded to its significant defeat in the Bihar assembly elections with a message of resilience. In a post on X, the party acknowledged the challenges of political life, stating, "Public service is an unceasing process, an endless journey. Ups and downs are inevitable in it. No sorrow in defeat, no arrogance in victory. The Rashtriya Janata Dal is the party of the poor. It will continue to raise their voice among the poor."

The RJD's performance saw a drastic decline, winning only 25 seats compared to 75 in the previous election. Its ally, Congress, fared poorly as well, securing just six out of 61 contested seats, down from 19. In stark contrast, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a sweeping victory, with the BJP winning 89 seats, an increase from 74, and Nitish Kumar's JD(U) rising to 85 from 43. Together, the NDA partners captured nearly 85 percent of the seats they contested, solidifying their majority in the 243-member assembly.

Despite the overall loss, Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD's chief ministerial candidate, managed to retain his seat in Raghopur, defeating BJP's Satish Kumar by 14,532 votes, according to the Election Commission.

In the wake of the election results, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the electoral process, calling the outcome "truly surprising" and alleging manipulation by the ruling NDA. He emphasized the need to protect democracy, although he did not provide specific evidence for his claims.

NDA leaders celebrated their victory, attributing it to effective seat-sharing and strong outreach to various caste groups, alongside the enduring popularity of Nitish Kumar. They dismissed the opposition's allegations as unfounded, reinforcing the NDA's political dominance in Bihar and paving the way for another term for Kumar.
