LINCOLN, Maine (WABI) - The Maine Attorney General’s Office says two officers were justified in shooting and killing a man in Lincoln earlier this year.

Officers responded to a home on Whalen Street on the evening of February 12th to find Derek Beach, 37, had violated a protection from abuse order.

He had bail conditions not to return to the home.

The Attorney General’s Office says Beach was inside the kitchen with a knife when officers arrived.

Officials say at one point he pointed the knife at his chest.

Officers tried to negotiate with Beach but when he refused to drop the knife, officers tased him.

That’s when Beach lunged at them with the knife.

Police shot Beach died at the scene.

The Attorney General’s Office said the officers acted in self-defense and defense of one anot
