TRAVERSE CITY — Ready or not, here it comes.

Last weekend’s lake-effect snow blast — nearly 1 foot fell on parts of the area, as previously reported, before mostly melting in the following days — offered a heads-up to Grand Traverse-area residents that the region is on the cusp of another winter: a season guaranteed to bring with it a mix of cheers and groans from locals, with snow lovers hoping for a traditional northern Michigan winter and haters crossing their fingers for milder conditions.
