Freshman Porter Martone scored a pair of goals as the No. 1-ranked Michigan State hockey team won its eighth straight game, 4-1, over Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., on Friday, Nov. 14.
Freshman Ryker Lee added a goal and an assist and Maxim Strback had the other goal for the Spartans, controlled play much of the night, outshooting the Fighting Irish (3-7-1 overall, 0-5 Big Ten), 47-25.
Junior goaltender Trey Augstine finished with 24 saves for MSU.
"I liked us in the first (period), I thought we did a lot of good stuff and played to our identity," MSU coach Adam Nightingale said. "I thought in the second, they pushed and scored on the power play and it's a tight game going into the third. I thought we showed some poise and Trey made some saves, for sure, for us.
"That's a good team
