Over the course of 32 days, main train lines across the country will face closure over the Christmas period, causing major disruption for festive travellers.

Over 2,500 trains will be impacted by the £130 million revamp of the railway lines as 20,000 rail engineers get to work.

From December 24 to January 15, the London-Glasgow West Coast main line, the busiest route in Britain, will be part shut for 22 days.

Additionally, London Liverpool Street will be closed from December 25 to New Year’s Day for journeys to the East, while London Waterloo will not be in use for trips to the South-West from Christmas Day to December 29.
