ROME — The Rome Wolves used a suffocating defense and timely big plays on offense to shut down visiting Lovejoy 47-16 on Friday night at Barron Stadium in the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs.
Rome has now tallied nine straight wins after starting the year 0-2, and the No. 7 Wolves have now won their state playoff opener for four straight years. Rome (9-2) has also won five straight region titles. ×
