A familiar face and a similar story will be added to the Pirates coaching staff next week, sources told the Post-Gazette on Saturday, as the team is set to hire Kristopher Negron as bench coach and Tony Beasley to fill the vacancy at third-base coach.
Negron most recently worked with the Seattle Mariners, spending the past four years on the big-league staff. Beasley, meanwhile, got his coaching and managing start in the Pirates minor league system (1999-2005), left for a year, then returned to the MLB coaching staff in 2007.
The moves both seem to fit what Don Kelly would look for in those surrounding him.
