WINONA, MN – Another Catholic institution in Minnesota, similarly to the Diocese of Crookston, is reportedly searching for ways to address underfunding in its pension plan, also managed by Christian Brothers Services.
Eric Huekeshoven, a former music professor at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona, east of Rochester, said he received a letter from the office of the university’s president dated Sept. 19 containing information that its defined benefit pension plan administered by CBS is underfunded.
“It’s frustrating,” he said. “It just goes without saying, right?”
The Diocese of Crookston sent out a similar letter to its current and former employees in late October. Both institutions, along with other employers whose plans are managed through CBS, were alerted to the underfu
