DES MOINES, Iowa —
One person died in a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning on the east side of Des Moines.
Just before 12:30 a.m., Des Moines Police Department officers and Des Moines Fire Department rescue personnel responded to a report of a motorcycle crash at E. 26th Street and State Avenue.
First responders arrived to find a 43-year-old male with critical injuries. Lifesaving efforts were initiated before medics transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he later died.
Police say the motorcyclist was the only person on the motorcycle and that he was not wearing a helmet.
Officers say the preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist was driving northbound on E. 26th Street, lost control, struck a curb and crashed.
The crash remains under investigation.
