The US border czar Tom Homan, who has been tasked with removing illegal immigrants from the United States, said the Catholic Church’s stance on President Donald Trump’s administration’s mass deportations is “wrong".

“The Catholic Church is wrong, I’m sorry," Homan told reporters outside the White House. “I’m saying it not only as the border czar, I’m saying it as a Catholic."

The White House border adviser described himself as a “lifelong Catholic" and said American Catholic bishops were sending the wrong message when they issued a rare statement backing immigrants and opposing what they called “indiscriminate mass deportations of people" earlier this week at a conclave.
