MT. CLEMENS, MI - A childcare provider was convicted of several charges related to child abuse at the end of a trial this week in Macomb County.

A Macomb County jury convicted 31-year-old Samantha Franz on Friday, Nov. 14, announced Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido in a press release.

Franz, of St. Clair Shores, was found guilty of second degree child abuse, a 10-year felony, and fourth degree child abuse, a one-year misdemeanor.

The trial took place over three days and was conducted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kelsey Heath.

Franz is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Michael E. Servitto on Jan. 15 in the Macomb County Circuit Court.

While employed as a childcare provider, Franz subjected a 10-month-old infant to abusive treatment, according to the prosecutor’s office.
