WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The annual Food for Families Drive may be six days away, but it’s never too early to start preparing donations.

“The things going on nowadays I know people need a lot of help,” Boy Scouts of America Troop 456 Assistant Scoutmaster Kelly Williams said.

Saturday morning, Boy Scouts of America Troop 456 in Waco and Knights of Columbus teamed up to gather donations for this year’s Food for Families.

Last week, about 700 door tags went out to homes in Park Meadow and the kids set out to collect the bagged goods.

“I think this is a really good opportunity for the young scouts to get out and learn providing service to their community and people in their community so really good lesson for them and they get to sign off some requirements too,” Williams said.
