After leading Texas A&M to its best start to a season since 1992, it seems Mike Elko is sticking around in College Station for a while.
Elko and the Aggies are reportedly finalizing an extension, per Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger. The deal is set to make him a top-10 paid coach in the sport.
He was hired ahead of the 2024 season following a tumultuous search, but the former Duke coach has found quick success at Texas A&M and holds a 17-5 record. After an 8-5 finish in Year 1, the Aggies are currently 9-0 and rank third in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Elko makes $7 million per year on his current deal, which ranks outside the top 30 nationally. According to ESPN's David Wilson, Elko's new deal will be a six-year extension that pays him an average of more than $11 million per year.
