Several Canberra suburbs have experienced an increase in blackouts in recent months, as electricity outages rose across the ACT network during the past financial year.

Residents in Gungahlin, Molonglo and Weston Creek were hit with more power outages in the second half of 2025 for "various reasons", the ACT's electricity provider has acknowledged.

Demand for electricity also rose to record levels in winter 2025 as the ACT continues to transition away from gas heating .

Evoenergy acting general manager Sam Sachse said while the total number of properties affected by outages had declined, some parts of the ACT network had experienced a surge in blackouts.
