BALTIMORE, MD — A 57-year-old man was found fatally injured in the rear alley of a Northwest Baltimore neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, triggering a homicide investigation as police search for answers in the daylight death.

Shortly after 2:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Gist Avenue for a welfare check when they discovered the man suffering from trauma to his upper body. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead a short time later.
