ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

Police have opened an investigation after a man was shot and killed Saturday in northeast Albuquerque.

An Albuquerque police spokesperson says the shooting took place around 1 a.m. near the area of Jefferson Street NE and Central Avenue.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a man who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were attempted, but the man did not survive his injuries.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Albuquerque police.
