Khiamniungan tribe won the Tribal Cuisine Competition, held as part of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada 2025 at DUDA conference hall, Kohima on November 15.
The menu of the winning tribe includes; Yah Nyei Niamkian (Pork with Axone and Perilla seeds), Wai Nyei Kianpan (Cooked vegetable salad with local chicken), Mix vegetable curry and Sunoi Chutney (Dried Mushroom Chutney).
Phom tribe bagged the 1st runner-up while Konyak tribe stood 2nd runner- up.
This competition commemorates the 150th Birth Anniversary of Birsa Munda.
The programme was organised by Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Nagaland, Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland and funded by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
