SPRINGFIELD – Tanner Coll was proud that he reached a personal milestone Friday night. But after Springfield’s 26-10 win over Strath Haven in the District 1 Class 5A semifinals, he was more eager to talk about what the Cougars accomplished together.
The senior running back and linebacker wanted the focus on the guys up front. He praised the offensive line for opening lanes all night for him and fellow senior Luke Valerio. He also shouted out the defensive line, which once again kept Strath Haven’s powerful ground attack in check.
But there was no way to completely ignore that Coll hit the 1,000-yard mark, the second Cougar to reach that number this fall. Valerio was the first, having since crossed 1,400 for the season. Coll finished with 94 yards on 12 carries to push season total to 1,0
