An investigation is underway in West Little River on Saturday after a hit-and-run driver fatally struck a man, deputies said.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, at around 5 a.m., deputies responded to a man who was struck by a vehicle in the area of Northwest 104th Terrace and 27th Avenue.

Deputies said the man was crossing the road when a black SUV struck him and left the scene.

The man was then taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

His identity was not released.

Deputies are now searching for the hit-and-run driver.
