For the holiday season, Redlands’ LifeHouse Theater will present its original musical “Scrooge!,” which began 40 years ago as a video project, Nov. 22 through Dec. 28.

The play, by LifeHouse founder Wayne R. Scott, is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

The musical’s history goes back to 1985, when Scott, then a teacher at Arrowhead Christian Academy, developed the story as a video project titled “Good News, Scrooge!,” according to a news release from LifeHouse Theater.

While writing, Scott envisioned the production as a stage musical and mounted the first performance at Redlands High School’s Clock Auditorium. The show opened Dec. 14, 1986, to a sold-out audience and went on to become an annual production.
