CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Border Patrol immigration began its enforcement in the Queen City on Saturday morning.
Charlotte is the first city where Border Patrol will spearhead immigration enforcement without coordinating ICE in the same location. Although ICE has made arrests in Charlotte , the agency wasn't coordinating with Border Patrol.
The operations drew responses from state and local officials, who released statements addressing the federal enforcement activities.

In response to community concerns about potential Border Patrol operations, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education Stephanie Sneed issued a joint statement Saturday in support of its residents.
