Legendary former Seattle Seahawks safety Kenny Easley died Friday night, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced . He was 66.
The cause of death wasn’t announced, but the Hall of Fame’s release mentioned that Easley had long battled health issues.
Easley, one of the all-time greats in Seahawks history, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017. His No. 45 jersey was retired by the Seahawks that fall, making him just the fourth player in franchise history to receive that honor.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Seahawks Legend Kenny Easley,” the Seahawks said in a statement Saturday morning. “Kenny embodied what it meant to be a Seahawk through his leadership, intensity, and fearlessness. His intimidating nature and athletic grace made him one of the best players of all-time.”
