NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Todd Snider, a beloved alt-country and Americana singer-songwriter known for his witty lyrics, has died at 59, his team confirmed his death on his Instagram page Saturday .

In a Friday Instagram post , his family and friends said the singer developed serious breathing problems and was hospitalized in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Doctors discovered he had been dealing with an undiagnosed case of walking pneumonia.
