A legendary EastEnders star is making a comeback to the soap after more than two decades. Barry Evans, who last graced our screens on 2 January 2004, will be returning for a one-off special.
The endearing character, initially scheduled for just four episodes of the popular BBC soap opera, quickly became a fan favourite and secured a leading role for ten years as a regular cast member.
However, Barry tragically exited shortly after the New Year in 2004 when his wife, Janine Butcher, confessed about her affair with Paul Trueman. In a gripping scene, she revealed to Barry that their marriage was a sham and when he pleaded with her not to leave, she pushed him, causing him to fall off a cliff edge and hit his head on rocks, resulting in his death.
