WESTERLY — Winning football teams, and established cultures, are a welcoming attraction.

That’s what brought Trystan Johnstone to Westerly football after the Bulldogs’ semifinal run last year. The senior was encouraged to join by his now teammates, and it’s a decision he’ll never regret.

The linebacker, in his first year of high school football, snagged two opportunistic interceptions against West Warwick in the Division II semifinals. The Bulldogs’ defense was flawless in their defining moment and it has Westerly heading to the Super Bowl.
