The North Pole Patriots exacted revenge on their cross-town rivals, the West Valley Wolfpack, by securing a narrow 42-39 victory in a hard-fought boys’ varsity dual meet at West Valley High School on Nov. 11.
The win reversed the result of their prior meeting, where West Valley defeated North Pole 41-32 at the North South Dual Team Tournament in Wasilla the previous weekend.
The difference in Tuesday’s result was largely due to critical lineup changes, which accounted for a dramatic swing in team points across the lighter weights. With the dual beginning at 130 pounds and cycling back to finish with the lightweights, the contest was decided by forfeits in the penultimate section of the dual, despite a valiant West Valley comeback attempt.
