ACT parents and teachers have been urged to stop using Kmart's "magic sand" tubs after lab testing identified potential traces of asbestos.
Kmart issued a recall for a 14-piece Sand Castle Building Set and tubs of magic sand in blue, green and pink due to asbestos concerns.
The retailer said the products were sold at Kmart and Target stores across the country and online, and via its app.
"The product is being recalled because the sand may include asbestos, which is a prohibited substance in Australia," Kmart said.
"Importantly, respirable asbestos has not been detected in any of the tested samples.
"The release of respirable asbestos fibres is unlikely to occur in its current state, unless the sand is processed by mechanical means such as crushing or pulverising.
