Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle made a pitch for more state and federal funding for road projects during his State of the City address Friday at the Von Braun Center.
“We’ve got to push to get our fair share of the infrastructure money back in the Tennessee Valley,” he said after his speech. Battle singled out area legislators in stressing the need for funds as the state’s largest city embarks on the second phase of its Restore Our Roads initiative in which it collaborates with the Alabama Department of Transportation.
“Huntsville is the regional employment center for north Alabama,” the mayor said. “We have to have an efficient, swift and safe transportation network. It’s vital.”
