New England Patriots defensive tackle Milton Williams could miss “multiple weeks” with a high ankle sprain, ESPN reported Saturday.
Williams, 26, suffered the injury Thursday night in New England’s 27-14 win over the Jets. The sprain occurred on the sixth play of New York’s opening drive.
He went to the medical tent and locker room but returned in the second quarter and attempted to play.
On the season, Williams has started all 11 games for the NFL-best Patriots (9-2) and recorded 27 tackles (seven for loss), eight quarterback hits and 3.5 sacks.
Williams played his first four NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, who selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech.
He signed a four-year, $104 million deal with the Patriots in March.
