The Sarnia Sting fired head coach Alan Letang on Saturday night.
The longtime Sarnia resident and former NHL defenceman was in his fifth season coaching the Sting.
“After careful evaluation, the organization believes that a new voice is needed to guide our young group and support their development through the rest of the season,” the Sting said in a statement.
“We want to thank Alan for his dedication, his work ethic and the genuine commitment he showed to the Sarnia Lambton community. His impact has been meaningful and appreciated.”
Letang guided the Sting to the OHL Western Conference final for the first time in team history in 2023, but they’ve missed the playoffs the past two seasons and are currently out of playoff spot.
