EUGENE - The No. 8 Oregon Ducks, shorthanded at wide receiver, needed someone to make their presence felt Friday night against Minnesota at Autzen Stadium.
That someone turned out to be redshirt freshman Jeremiah McClellan, whose 13-yard touchdown reception was one of the more spectacular plays of the night during No. 8 UO’s 42-13 win over the Gophers.
The play occurred minutes after Minnesota scored a touchdown, reducing its deficit to 28-13. The Ducks responded with a 75-yard drive capped by McClellan’s spectacular touchdown reception that required a review to determine if he had miraculously gotten one foot down before going out of bounds.
“I still can’t explain how he got his foot down,” quarterback Dante Moore said. “That’s just insane.”
The play somewhat defies explanation.
