Descendants of escaped slaves who found their way to Grey County are featured in a photo exhibition at Owen Sound’s BME Church.
Part of the exhibit was featured at the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C.to celebrate the 2016 opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Saturday many of the subjects of the portraits were invited back to the church to meet photographer Yuri Dojc again.

The public was invited in too. The exhibit was also displayed at Grey Roots during the annual Owen Sound Emancipation Festival in 2017, and many more places since. It was most recently been exhibited in Windsor.
The portraits are on indefinite loan to the British Episcopal Methodist Church, an early Black church that ministered to freedom seekers
