MILTON — Syracuse-bound running back D’Antae Sheffey was only one of the problems Wilkes-Barre Area had to deal with Saturday afternoon.

State College also brought in size, speed and a swarming defense that completely overwhelmed the Wolfpack.

Sheffey, though, was the biggest issue. He had 137 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries — all in the first half — as State College routed WBA 52-0 in a PIAA Class 6A first-round game at Milton Area High School.

WBA’s first trip to the state playoffs in the program’s seven-year history resulted in its worst loss ever.

“Again, I can only thank our seniors for leading us to this point,” WBA coach Ciro Cinti said. “But now hopefully our underclassmen can see what it takes to get to the next level and play a state team like this.”
