HOMEWOOD, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Homewood Fire and police are investigating a fire at a retirement home Saturday evening.
According to the Homewood Fire Department, a fire happened on the 3rd floor of Skyline Village in the 200 block of Goodwin Crest Drive.
Homewood fire says they arrived to the retirement home and saw flames coming from the 3rd floor of the building.
The battalion chief on scene was able to get water on the fire within the first 8-10 minutes of arrival before immediately beginning search procedures, according to Homewood Fire Chief Brandon Broadhead.
Broadhead says the fire was quickly extinguished, but that a lot of residents at the home have disabilities and mobility restrictions and were unable to evacuate themselves. Those residents sheltered in place above the fire un
