BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away, and people are already in the holiday giving spirit.
Thousands of families across Jefferson County were gifted turkeys and food Saturday so they can celebrate and break bread with family — no matter their circumstances.
Tracie Threadford, the Mayor of Tarrant, said, “We’re just trying to spread a little holiday cheer and make sure our community is taken care of through the holidays.”
“This is our area, and so we’re just super excited to be able to come out and serve,” Lashelle Jackson, the Executive Director of the R.A.C.E Foundation, added.
Organizations in Jefferson County are thinking bigger.
Latonya Tate, President pro tem Birmingham City Council for District 9, said, “We served 400 families.”
