AUBURN -- The Camden Hills Windjammer took home the programs first ever state football title after defeating the Spruce Mountain Phoenix 52-26 in the 8-Man Large final.
It was a day full of highlights for Camden, who opened the game with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Hollis Schwalm to Justin Batty.
In the second quarter, Schwalm took the ball in himself on an insane 68-yard touchdown run in which the quarterback completely reversed field after looking to pass, and then cut up into the open grass for the score.
Junior cornerback Braden Beveridge made his impact felt on defense for the Windjammers, recording two interceptions on the teams path to a 52-26 victory and their first state title.
