CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - Dubuque Wahlert has experience inside the UNI-Dome, but on Saturday their experience wasn’t enough to take down a talented Bishop Heelan team.

The Golden Eagles cannot defend their 3A crown, falling to Heelan 34-21.

Wahlert got touchdowns from Ben Francis, Anderson Herbst and JP Elbert. Wahlert outgained Bishop Heelan, but the Crusaders made too many clutch plays.

The Golden Eagles end their season at 9-3.

“We’re fighters. We’ll fight all the way to the end,” said Golden Eagle senior Josh Oelke. “It doesn’t matter what the score is, what the end of the game is or the beginning of the season, we’re gonna fight until the end.”
