St. Joseph (Mont.) might have one of the most interesting quarterback situations in the state. Quarterbacks Mason Geis and Lamar Best have both played at a high level for the Green Knights and both have also had to give up the starting spot this season due to injuries.
With Geis currently sidelined with an ankle injury, Best got the call to lead SJR in their playoff-opener against Delbarton. Best delivered for his team, as St. Joseph, third-seeded and No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, rolled in a 35-0 shutout over the sixth-seeded Green Wave in the quarterfinals of the 2025 NJSIAA/Xfinity Football State Championships Non-Public A playoffs at Tony Karcich field in Montvale.
The Green Knights (8-2) are now scheduled for a rematch against second-seeded St. Peter’s Prep.
