FORT KENT, Maine (WAGM) - In a statement this week, representatives from NMMC said the National Labor Relations Board notified the hospital that the registered nurses on Monday, September 15, h ad requested a secret ballot election be held to decertify the union, or remove the union’s representation of the nurses at the hospital. While it was expected the election would happen in October or November, the union submitted a challenge to the validity of the signatures submitted in support of the petition. This delayed the vote, according to NMMC.

WAGM reached out to The Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, who says the signatures to unionize are not valid because supervisors were involved in getting those signatures.
