OLD TOWN, Maine (WABI) - One local swim team is making quite the splash this weekend.
From 10 a.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday, the aquatic athletes from Canoe City Swim Club (CCSC), ages 6 through 19, will put themselves to the test for the team’s second annual 24-hour relay.
“We are a YMCA and USA competitive swimming team right out of Old Town-Orono area,” explains CCSC Head Coach Taylor Rogers. “They all signed up for swim times. Most of our 13 and overs have decided to be here the entire 24 hours. So they’re taking turns volunteering, counting for their teammates, and then trying to swim as far as they can as well.”
Until the clock runs out, the pool will always be occupied with at least one swimmer, most with their sights set on creating a new personal record.
“This is awesome,
