Penn State had to wait a long time for its fourth victory of the season, and its first in Big Ten play.
Terry Smith’s Nittany Lions earned it by dominating Michigan State at scrimmage in a 28-10 victory on Saturday in East Lansing. PSU also took home the Land Grant Trophy.
Penn State (4-6, 1-6) ran the ball better and the Lions’ defense pitched a second-half shutout.

TURNING POINT
There was little separating Penn State and Michigan State after three quarters. The Nittany Lions led 14-10 after 45 minutes but a win was still within reach for the Spartans.
The Lions’ offense seized control of the game with a 13-play 76-yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter that ate up 9:05.
