DERRY, N.H. —

A New Hampshire fire chief was arrested for driving while under the influence and has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Derry fire Chief Shawn Haggart was arrested on Oct. 18 in Bow for driving under the influence.

Derry town administrator Mike Fowler told News 9 that Haggart has been placed on paid administrative leave.

"Otherwise, the town of Derry has no further comment as it is a personnel matter," Fowler said.

According to the town website, Haggart started as chief on March 1, 2024. He started with the Derry Fire Department in 2001.
