The Maple Leafs welcomed Joseph Woll back, but their losing streak remains a going concern.

They couldn’t protect a one-goal lead — or capitalize on great chances to increase it — in falling 3-2 at the United Center, their fifth straight setback and dropping them to 8-9-2.

Woll, in his first start in net since April 17 after leaving in training camp for personal reasons, faced 32 shots and was sharp until some late-game defensive woes haunted he and his mates again. The Leafs outshot the Blackhawks 33-32.
