Someone from the pool has made it to the top.

Sophia Smith has become the swimmer to be crowned Monroe County Region Athlete of the Week for this school year.

The Monroe High junior garnered 10,023 votes to dominate the Nov. 3-9 poll.

She nearly doubled the total of St. Mary Catholic Central volleyball player Madeline Dettling, who was second with 5,069. SMCC football player Brock Cousino was third with 3,041 and Jefferson football player Luke Beaudrie fourth with 2,580.

The Nov. 10-16 poll is now open. You can vote until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
